I could tell I was being followed. I turned down the alley, my hand clutched onto my knife. It was safely in it’s case strapped to my jean’s pocket. They were dark wash. They were stylish. They made boys drop dead.
I contemplated jumping to the top of the building. Too weird, I decided. If it was just a nosey human stalking me, I did not want them seeing me jumping onto a roof.
The footsteps picked up. They were sliding gracefully over the ground. Either it was a ballerina—and I highly doubted that—or it was another vampire. They would soon be turning down the alley I was in. I forced myself to sit next to a dumpster. I stopped breathing.
The footsteps turned down the alley. They didn’t stop. They knew where I was. They surely did now because my cell phone went off. It’s annoying ringtone echoed off the walls.
I pulled it out of my pocket. Ryan. Fuck.
